Povoa De Varzim

When we decided to go to Póvoa De Varzim I was expecting a little village on the outskirts of the beach . But it was bigger then just a little village. We were really surprised . We also went to the harbour where they were getting the nets ready and selling the fish then as we were walking we decided to go of the path a bit away from the ocean and there we found a whole street full of shops that surprised us a bit more . When we were getting hungry we picked up some food at the local mini preço and we called it a day . I was really satisfied with what we seen as it used to be a small village.

The blue tiles showing the history of Póvoa de Varzim witch is pretty spectacular

The beach but we didn't like the sand as it was really
coarse s
tones in there

The many nice tall apartment buildings showing the
growth of Póvoa de Varzim

The statue showing the wealth of Póvoa de Varzim

I was surprised there was a casino in Póvoa de
Varzim we didn't get a chance to go inside but the
outside was looking good and well tooken care of

Statue showing the history of fishing

The harbour selling the fish

This is the big dam calming the water by the harbour
for the boats to stay calm in the harbour and to keep
the city safe

They used these massive concrete blocks to calm the waters and when I say massive look
At the size of those Blocks they are huge

This is the little light house at the end of the dam

There are 2 levels to the dam one level higher holding the big rocks and boulders of concrete

This is a crane boat to take out smaller boats or other lifting matters

A magnificent view of Póvoa de Varzim from what started so small and now so big

This is a view of part of the shopping street and the
restaurants

The shopping street

The harbour with calm water and in the background
to the left they are fixing the holes in the nets and
cleaning them

The fishing boats bringing out the nets

We decided to feed the seagulls a bit

The statue in the round about close to the casino we
do not know what it stands for but looks nice

We also have a big passion for palm trees
